About Val-U Auto

Light, Medium and heavy Duty Towing & Roadside Services

Located at 217 Elmira Rd, Ithaca, NY 14850, Val-U Auto operates as an auto repair shop serving Ithaca in New York. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Google also lists it under towing service, which is worth knowing if you are comparing several options in the area.

This group covers the auto services most drivers use between washes: repair shops and quick-lube centers, body and collision shops, tire and auto glass shops, parts stores, towing companies, gas stations and EV charging sites. Independent repair shops are usually cheaper than dealerships for out-of-warranty work; quick-lube chains change oil and filters in under half an hour without an appointment. Body shops handle collision repair and paintless dent removal, often working directly with insurers. Parts stores lend tools, test batteries for free and recycle used oil. Gas stations in most states are self-serve, and many attach a tunnel or in-bay automatic wash discounted with fuel.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is Open 24 hours. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (607) 343-8258. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, val-uauto.com.

Ithaca is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Ithaca is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Came to pick up my car after an accident but if you do have insurance they'll charge you $400 for an emergency pickup Thank God I have insurance. Then when you call them you have to wait an hour before you can go and get your stuff out of your car. And when your insurance company tells you that you need to give them a verbal release you have to call them six or seven times because it takes them forever to answer you and then they say they're busy and give you an attitude. Maybe you guys should have asked me to sign a physical or verbal release when I was there the first time.

Kyler was dispatched to tow my 2003 Honda Goldwing GL1800 after the alternator failed and the bike weighs 900 lbs , but we were able to load the bike on the flatbed with just the two of us because he used the cable on the front to pull the bike onto the bed. He did an amazing job strapping it down and took his time bringing it to my house and he kept checking to make sure the straps didn't loosen. I would definitely call for a tow and request him for his excellent service making sure my bike wasn't damaged in the loading, transport or unloading.. He took the extra time to make sure everything was done right. Excellent job and I couldn't ask for better service

Based on a freezing cold 5 hour long fiasco this past fall, i know that tow truck companies that are dispatched with AAA need to be equipped with special brackets for shipping motorcycles. After making sure dispatch knew to communicate that my motorcycle was being towed , and would need special equipment, I waited a shockingly short period of time for the driver to show up. I felt it was too good to be true that someone with the right equipment could come that quickly. Once he did , I inquired about the technique he would be using to strap my bike down. When he explained his way to me, I told him that wasnt a safe way to tow the bike for several reasons. Told him His style would put tension in places like the fork seals and brakes and possibly mess up the suspension and alignment. I also voiced concern that Creating damage to those areas could potentially cause a life threatening accident. I asked about the tire brackets traditionally used and he told me he didnt have them and could do it without it. He was very rude, very pushy, and told me I could "sit my ass there" while I waited for a different tow truck if I didnt like the way he was doing it. He then told me he was a professi

My insurance company contacted Donald to assist w/Roadside service I request. Donald was a lifesaver, he arrived very quickly, with the remedy in hand. He was very kind and a professional. Thanks again Donald! - Erica

I had a good experience with them. Donald came pretty fast from the time I placed the road assistance request with my insurance. I was stranded on I-81 with a blowout tire. It was scary, but he assured me the car was fine to drive, changed the tire fast, and I was on my way. Highly recommended.
